CBSE North Zone Taekwondo Championship
The CBSE North Zone Taekwondo Championship was held at Meeranpur, Meerut, from 30th July to 3rd August 2025, where participants from various schools showcased their strength, skill, and sportsmanship. Representing DPS Dehradun, Deepanksh Bagriyal of Class XI put up an excellent performance and made the school proud by winning the Bronze Medal in his category. His achievement added yet another feather to the school’s cap and served as an inspiration for his peers to pursue sports with dedication and passion.
Black Belt in Taekwondo
Taksh Chamola of Class 6A at Delhi Public School, Dehradun, has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning his Black Belt in Taekwondo, certified by Kukkiwon, South Korea, under the Taekwondo Federation of India.
With this achievement, Taksh has become the youngest Black Belt holder in Uttarakhand in the year 2025. His dedication, discipline, and passion for martial arts have brought pride to his school, family, and the entire state. The Management and Principal congratulated him for his remarkable achievement.

We are delighted to share that our student, Ms. Sherali Pattanaik (Class X), has achieved an extraordinary milestone in the world of Chess.
At just 15 years of age, Sherali has crossed the ELO rating of 2300 points in the July 2025 FIDE rating list — one of the key requirements for becoming a Woman Grandmaster. With this feat:
She has become the highest-rated U-15 girl player in India.
Ranked World No. 3 in the U-15 girls category.
Conferred with the prestigious title of FIDE Master.
Trained under International Chess Grandmaster & Arjuna Awardee, Shri Pravin Thipsay, Sherali has consistently shown exceptional dedication and brilliance. With continued training and international exposure, she is all set to become the first Woman International Master and Woman Grandmaster from Uttarakhand.
We thank Grandmaster Pravin Thipsay for his guidance and encouragement and look forward to supporting Sherali as she scales even greater heights.

Chess Champion in Both Men & Women Categories!
Our student Sherali Pattnaik made history in Uttarakhand Chess by winning both the State Senior Men Open and State Senior Women Chess Championships (11–13 Aug 2025) — a first for any girl in the state!
She achieved a perfect score in both events (6/6 in Men’s, 5/5 in Women’s), remaining undefeated throughout.
Sherali will now represent Uttarakhand in the National Senior Men Open and National Senior Women Championships. We are proud of her remarkable achievement and wish her success at the nationals!

DPS GIRL SHINES IN CHESS
The All India Chess Federation (AICF) conduct National level chess championship in all age categories for boys and girls every year. To get through these prestigious tournaments, the Uttarakhand State Chess Association organised the State Chess Championship in different categories from 19th May to 24th May, 2025.
It’s a proud moment for us that Sherali Pattnaik of Delhi Public School, Dehradun is the only girl who participated in both Under 15 boys’ and girls’ category and proving her mettle yet again. She secured the first position in the championship by a perfect score of 5 on 5 in girls’ category. She secured the first position in boys’ category also and remain undefeated throughout the tournament. She is the first girl in the history of chess of Uttarakhand who became champion in girls and boys in both the category.
In Under 19 category, she secured the first position in the championship by a perfect score of 5 on 5 in girls’ category and 4th position in boys’ category.
In Under 17 category, she secured the first position in the championship by a perfect score of 5 on 5 in girl’s category and 3rd position in boys’ category. She was felicitated with trophies and cash prizes.
She will now represent State of Uttarakhand in National chess championship under 19, under17 and under 15 with the aspiration of making her home state proud in the National tournament as well.

Inter-School Taekwondo Championship
Delhi Public School, Dehradun hosted the Inter-School Taekwondo Championship on April 19, 2025, Saturday. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 20 schools across the region, with over 150 students showcasing their skills in a thrilling display of Taekwondo prowess.
The championship was inaugurated by Mr. Saurabh Thapliyal, Honourable Mayor of Dehradun who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ms. Swati Uniyal, Principal of the Himalayan Public School was the Guest of Honour of the day.
The event featured a series of exciting bouts across various weight and age categories, with students demonstrating remarkable techniques and discipline. Delhi Public Dehradun emerged as the winner and got the Overall Trophy. The students felicitated with medals and certificates are as follows.

International FIDE Chess Tournament
Master Souren Chauhan (IV-C)
Souren participated in the International FIDE Chess Tournament held in Ghaziabad on Saturday and Sunday. In an impressive display of skill, he secured 5th position in the Under-8 category, winning a trophy and a cash prize of ₹3500.
The tournament was an open event, featuring players of all age groups. Souren's achievement is all the more remarkable considering he competed against a diverse pool of players and still managed to excel in his category.

Ms. Sherali Pattnaik, a student of class 9, participated in the Under 17 Girls Chess Championship organized by Uttarakhand State Chess Association.
Playing in this State Chess Championship is mandatory to participate in the National Chess Championship.
*Sherali Pattnaik secured 1st position in the championship by scoring 4 out of 4 points* and now she will represent the state of Uttarakhand in the Under 17 National Chess Championship.

Our student, Ms Sherali Patnaik, has secured Best Lady Second Place Open Division in this prestigious tournament, showcasing remarkable talent, dedication, and strategic prowess.
This achievement not only reflects Sherali’s individual excellence but also highlights the caliber of students and the dedication of our school in nurturing talent and promoting extracurricular activities.
PHENOMENAL FEATS OF TAEKWONDO TEAM
The Taekwondo team of DPS Dehradun participated in the XIV District Taekwondo Championship 2024 at Jaswant Model School on 28th April 2024 in which about 300 players took part from all over the district. The tournament was hosted by Jaswant Model School, organized by Dehradun Sports taekwondo Association under the aegis of Taekwondo Uttarakhand affiliated to Taekwondo Federation of India and Indian Olympic Association.
40 students participated from DPS Dehradun and made us proud. They lifted the trophy. Seven of our students won Gold medals, 6 won Silver medals and 15 got Bronze medals.
Students brought Laurels in State Yoga Championship-2024
The Yoga Association of Uttarakhand organised the 4th Uttarakhand Open State Yoga Championship on 28th April 2024, Sunday at the Multipurpose Sports Hall,Parade ground, Dehradun. The students of Delhi Public school, Dehradun participated in the event and won 22 medals in different categories -13 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze under the able guidance of Ms Nupur Bhui.

9th State open Tennis Championship
Electrifying achievements of DIPSITES in Tennis!!!!
The students of Delhi Public school Dehradun participated in 9th State open Tennis championship organised by Uttareshwar Randive and came with flying colours.
In an exhilarating final match at the Uttarakhand 9th State Open Tennis Championship, Diya Kumawat of class VIII D emerged victorious in the Girls Under-14 singles and Under-14 Girls’ doubles, showcasing her exceptional skill and determination on the court, facing off against a formidable opponent Vaishnavi Bisht.
Saher Sarna of class VIII E from Professional Lawn Tennis Academy (PLTA) also emerged winner by clinching First prize in doubles under-14 category and Runner up in singles under-13 category.
Partnered with Saher, Diya further showcased her doubles prowess by clinching the title in the doubles category. Together, they displayed excellent coordination and teamwork, outmanoeuvring their opponents, Harmehar Kaur and Vaishnavi, to secure a hard-fought victory with a scoreline of 7/5.
Diya Kumawat and Saher Sarna’s triumph in both singles and doubles categories is a testament to their talent, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence in Tennis.

Uttarakhand State Taekwondo championship
It's a matter of pride that the students of Delhi Public school Dehradun participated in 13th Uttarakhand State Taekwondo championship on 30th September 2023 at Zhen Sports Academy and won the Winners Trophy in Uttarakhand State. Nearly 250 students from seven districts participated in the event in which Dehradun district stood first, Haridwar second and Pauri Garhwal stood third. Delhi Public school Dehradun stood first in State level scoring maximum number of medals and achieved the Winners Trophy. The winners are:

The Yoga Association of Uttarakhand organised the 15th Uttarakhand State Yoga Championship on 8th October 2023, Sunday at Multipurpose Sports Hall parade ground Dehradun, under the Fit India Campaign, Govt. of India. The students of Delhi Public school, Dehradun participated in the event and won 15 medals in different categories i.e 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 8 Bronze under the able guidance of Ms Nupur Bhui.
SFA Shooting Championship
Congratulations !! It is a proud moment for all of us as our two students Dev Arya ( VII) and Vaishnavi Singh (VIII) have brought glory to our school. An Inter House Football Competition was held in Delhi Public school Dehradun on 24th and 25th May 2023. Principal Shri B K Singh and Vice Principal Ms Sujata Singh inaugurated the tournament. More than 100 students of six houses participated in the competition. Sutlej house stood first , Yamuna house second and Ravi house stood third in the competition. Principal congratulated the winners and wished all participants luck.
INTER HOUSE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
The Inter House Basketball tournaments for Boys and Girls were held in Delhi Public school Dehradun on 27th and 29th May 2023. Principal Shri B K Singh and Vice Principal Ms Sujata Singh inaugurated the match. In Boys category Jhelum house won the first place, Yamuna second place and Chenab won the third place. In Girls category, Ravi won the first place, Chenab second and Jhelum won the third place. Principal congratulated the winners and applauded the sporting skills of all participants.

Selection for Bhutan International Marital Art Championship was held at Zhen Sports Academy, Dehradun.Nearly 150 students from all over India participated in the event. Team Delhi Public School, Dehradun bagged Gold , Silver and bronze medals respectively in the event.The Gold Madelist have been selected for Bhutan International Martial art Championship. The Annual Terry for Run was held on 14th April, 2023 at The Doon World School, Miss Jhanvi Khan of class XII D bagged the 20th position. She also participated in the Sarmang Marathon and in the 28th Inter School Roller Skating championship held on the 16th April 2023 in which she bagged the first position in the girls category and bagged a gold medal in roll-ball, a silver in rink race respectively. Uttarakhand Arm Wrestling Competition
It's a matter of pride that Anubhav Mehta of class XI D, who participated in Uttarakhand Arm Wrestling Competition in above 80kg category and secured 2nd position in state level and selected for national . The competition was held on 7th May 2023 at Pantagon Mall, Haridwar in which nearly 500 school students participated. Principal Shri B K Singh applauded him and conferred with medal.
